Thomas Slosson was elected as Calleguas Municipal Water District Board Representative of Division 1 in November 2012. A native of Southern California, he has lived in Simi Valley with his wife and two children for 27 years.

Director Slosson received a Bachelor of Science degree in geology from the University of Southern California and is a Professional Geologist and Certified Engineering Geologist. He has approximately thirty years of experience as a practicing engineering geologist and is currently Chief Engineering Geologist at Slosson & Associates. He has served as contract City Geologist for Moorpark, Calabasas, Monterey Park, and Agoura Hills. He has authored papers on many topics, most notably the effects of the Northridge earthquake, plan review guidelines, standard practices in geology, landslides, flooding, and ethical practices in engineering geosciences. He has served as an expert witness in dozens of court cases involving geological issues, typically representing public agencies.

He is a member of the American Institute of Professional Geologists, the Association of Environmental & Engineering Geologists, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the Geological Society of America, the Floodplain Management Association, the International Code Council, Inc., and Sigma Gamma Epsilon, ACWA Groundwater Committee and ACWA Energy Committee.

Director Slosson also has thirty years of service as a sheriff on the County of Los Angeles Reserve Mounted Posse, currently serving as Commander of the Reserve Mounted Posse for the Altadena Station. He is a member of the California Mounted Officers Association and keeps his own horses, Bosco and Wanda, at his property in Simi Valley.

With such a range of technical expertise and public agency experience, Director Slosson’s goal as a Calleguas Board member is to apply his knowledge and analytical skills to the increasingly difficult challenge of providing a cost effective and reliable water supply to the homes and businesses he represents.

He serves as President of Calleguas’ Board of Directors and is a member of the Board Finance, Groundwater, and Water Quality and Operations Committees.  He represents Calleguas as a Director of the Association of Water Agencies of Ventura County, serving as President in 2015/16.  He is a member of the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) Groundwater and Energy Committees and serves as the alternate representative for Calleguas on the ACWA Joint Powers Insurance Authority and the Ventura County Regional Energy Alliance.
