Project Updates

Week of January 3, 2022 Update:

Calleguas' contractor, Kiewit, will not be performing roadwork this week.

Please note construction is dependent on many variables and this information is subject to change.

Project Description

Calleguas Municipal Water District (Calleguas) and Las Virgenes Municipal Water District (LVMWD) each own and operate potable water systems largely dependent on imported water supply. Both agencies are subject to planned and unplanned interruptions of water deliveries that can negatively impact their ability to deliver potable water to their respective customers. On March 10, 2015, Calleguas and LVMWD entered into an interconnection agreement to improve future reliability of both systems.

This interconnection between the two agencies’ systems is a cost-effective way to deliver water between agencies if one were to experience a complete or partial supply interruption that did not significantly affect the other agency and would be of mutual benefit to both systems.

The Calleguas – Las Virgenes Interconnection Project consists of the following primary components, with the agency responsible for construction noted in parentheses:

  • North Interconnection Pipeline with new turn-out (Calleguas)
  • South Interconnection Pipeline (LVMWD)
  • Pump Station/Pressure Regulating Station (PS/PRS) (Calleguas)
  • Lindero Pump Station No. 1 reverse flow valve upgrade (Calleguas)
  • New or converted air/vacuum relief valves to address water pressure surge (Calleguas)
  • Yerba Buena recycled water pipeline extension (LVMWD)
  • Canyon Oaks Park Lateral recycled water pipeline (LVMWD)

Calleguas will construct a new Pump Station/Pressure Reducing Station (PS/PRS) located along Lindero Canyon Rd. just north of the Ventura County / Los Angeles County line, as well as the North Interconnection Pipeline segment along Lindero Canyon Rd. between the PS/PRS and Kanan Rd.

The proposed North Interconnection Pipeline will be installed under the traffic lanes of Lindero Canyon Road northward from the PS/PRS site to Kanan Road.  The North Interconnection Pipeline is composed of 6,300 linear feet of 30-inch welded steel pipe.

The Lindero Pump Station No. 1 valve upgrade will occur entirely within the existing pump station located approximately 650 feet southeast of the Erbes Road/Avenida De Las Flores intersection in the City of Thousand Oaks. Four air/vacuum relief valves will be upgraded and one new valve installed at locations along Calleguas’ existing Lindero Feeder No. 2 pipeline.
