Las Posas Basin Specific Management Plan

Calleguas Municipal Water District is facilitating the development of a stakeholder-driven basin specific groundwater management plan for consideration by the Fox Canyon Groundwater Management Agency's Board of Directors.  The plan will cover the South Las Posas, East Las Posas, and West Las Posas Basins.  On February 25, 2009, the Fox Canyon Groundwater Management Agency (FCGMA) passed Emergency Ordinance D declaring a moratorium on new wells in the Las Posas Basins and limiting agricultural irrigation from groundwater at 4 acrefeet per acre per year.  The emergency ordinance is effective until January 1, 2010 unless otherwise extended by the FCGMA Board.

One of the purposes of the emergency ordinance was to facilitate the development of a basin-specific management plan to help bring groundwater extractions into balance with groundwater recharge.  This website provides access to the plan development for all interested parties.  Your involvement is welcome.  Please explore the links to find out more about the issues involved in the Las Posas Basins.

If you have questions regarding the information on this site or involvement in the Las Posas Basin-Specific Management Plan, you may contact Henry Graumlich, Manager of Special Projects, via e-mail at hgraumlich@calleguas.com.  Please include "Las Posas" in the subject line.
